LOL, I had an idea. Why not create a thread called Moderators at OOTF Suck on here and send PM's to all the Mods to read it? This way we can rip them apart and they'd have to read and can do nothing about it? EG: "Eclipse really is a moron. He/She is so stupid that she couldn't even get a direct swipe at her/him" Then on OTF Hey Eclipse, did you see this? boundary.boards.net/thread/new/1 |

Hey guys, just want to encourage you... talk like this sounds so negative. I don't think tearing others down is healthy. I understand some were banned, but I think we need to respond with grace and tact. Or not respond at all. I mean, look, I'm not trying to tell anyone what to think or feel, but I have enough hatred being spewed by the PD's in my life. Let's build each other up and work on US. What do you say?

Way to encourage learning and healing....
I understand where FindingHelp is coming from as to where to put our energies here, and that's an excellent point.
I'm getting to the point of thinking we've got fleas and ticks from exposure to the moderators - and who wants to carry that emotional baggage around?
What say we dump all our bad feelings on this one thread and move forward on all the other ones?

^^^ I can work with that. Not particularly interested in tearing down anyone/ Mods, but rather high lighting the manner in which the rulez are being abused and the spirit of helping is being compromised.
i.e. getting warnings for posting links to information with therapists while there is tons of helpful information on the site that is free. Unitedfornowblogspot is one that I got nailed for many times, but is excellent for helping people whether staying or going. Just a strange "system" and and and and....you all know the score.

Yo are a 100% right and it's good you came in to change the tone. It was needed because I think we are all really angry and rightly so.
But really, what can we do, not much.
It's really a shame because so many people who had so much to offer left, for the same reasons and that's a big loss.
I know back in the day, FindingHelp really was the one who made me see the courage I had to leave my situation. That would never happen now on there because discussions can never go that far on there.

Findinghelp thank you. CG is right to get hot under the collar though. I can understand why the acrimony. It's not without basis. What the mod squad did, without even thinking about it, is act precisely like a BPD. White wash. Stir trouble for ages in the back ground with funky rule interpretation and then pick out specific individuals. It was deliberate. Then stand back and wonder why the reaction....where have many of us seen this sort of behavior before?
The rewrite history by deleting it.

I'm not doing such a great job at following my own advice (I've posted about OOTF problems on 2 or 3 threads instead of sticking to just one)....
But here's the thing:
The OOTF tangles can serve a really useful purpose in helping to avoiding the pitfalls and perils of runaway authoritarianism, and help shape the rules and procedures for this new forum.
One technical drawback I was always aware of was that searching prior topics at OOTF was difficult, if not impossible.
And one of the attractive things about OOTF was its accessability, links to helpful information, reading suggestions, etc.
Now, I know many of us are missing certain longtime members from OOTF - those with the wisdom of experience and the ability to really articulate ideas in a post.
We can certainly open our hearts and ask them to join us here.
But Senior members were once newbies, so I also think we need to do what we can to increase our accessibility so the newbies will find us.
When people Google "personality disorder support" or "psychological manipulation" or "emotional vampires" - ours should be one of the results posted.
I've also noticed that sometimes the forum isn't accessible because the server is down or blocked, or the interface between servers isn't successful.
I think it's important that we do what we can to rectify these issues.
Let's see if we can call on our respective "networks" of people to see if we can't shape Boundary.Boards into the place we all know it can be!
I guess now would be the time to post a "Wish List" of what each of us would like to see...whether emoticons, color schemes, reading suggestions, etc.
Even if we can't do it now, I think it's beneficial to begin to dream of the possibilities!

I want to chime in.... being a long timer (3 years) and Senior member of OOTF. After reading what has been going on there, I seriously think they just banned everyone that posted a lot.. that is what it seems like to me.. from the folks that have found their way here... all of you guys are voices that I respected on OOTF..and here we all are... banned... and for what? I swear to whatever God exists that I didn't DO ANYTHING to get banned.. except CALL INTO QUESTION their motives, and have the gall to ASK them to tell me what I did! Is that asking too much??? WTF??? Are THEY ALL PD?  I have to wonder. And yes, Eclipse is running that forum INTO THE GROUND. I had to wonder what the hell was going on a few months ago when I was informed by PM that one of my posts was being censored with little *** wherever I had the word fuck. Really? Really people??? It really pissed me off... oh, sorry, p****d me off. but I went with it. and pretty much ignored it. I figured whoever had their panties in a wad about that would get tired of censoring every freakin' post. Whatever. I am so done with all of them. Glad to have found you all here. Now we can get back to what is really important... supporting each other and all those newbies that will be coming here looking for help. We have valuable experience to share. |

They destroyed that place. It's disgusting. They have no clue what they are doing. The made sure everyone who had valuable life lessons and experience left. Why? I don't know.
Even more disgusting is what they did to a certain VIP there.
As I told eclipse, I plan on making sure he is aware of his failures. I intend to keep that promise. Right now only 22 users. Most of the activity is by "guests" or by people who have posted a few times. The advice is awful.
At one point, or around when I joined, I think around Sept-Oct-Nov 12 I had got great advice and "met" many great people. In fact I'm certain that a few people like FindingHelp and Oneness really gave me what I needed to get out of my situation, In fact FindingHelp is my guardian angel. A few months ago, when GarBear took his break, it went downhill. Almost everyone who really made a difference seemed to stop posting or were banned or whatever.
That's what makes it very sad, angering and frustrating, because that place had made a difference in my life and others lives as well. And it's damn shame because think of how many others it could have really helped? Now no chance because of everything, including the horrible advice given. Given by Mods who are not trained as any type of professional, doling out advice as if they were therapists.
I mean it's absolute garbage what they're pushing as advice.
The joke is really on them.

This seems to be a big stab at becoming People Of Importance in the world......finally in the driver's seat and lookin for respect!
And short of that, being feared.
But in reality, being the objects of pity, ridicule and dislike.
Given the choice between being Stalin and being just plain old me, I'll choose me, thank you very much.
I have too much self respect to trade good will for notoriety and power.
My guess is a lot of the activity over there has to do with aspirations of becoming the next-generation Dear Abby, or Dear Prudence, or Dr. Phil.
When people think of who they admire in the world, it isn't the bullies. It's the Regular Joes who they can relate to.
With regard to the moderators, I just want to state one clear and obvious exception to the pack of mad dogs:

Regarding other forum antics:
It should be known that anytime you see a mod posting about hijacking a thread, it's likely meant as a slap in the face to Gary, who was subject to the utlimate hijacking on OOTF.
Gary is way too cool a dude to let it get to him. He knows he gains prestige with every disrespect they fling at him.
Ever look at Gary's posts? He's not so presumptuous to think he's got an answer. Dude just asks some deep questions to get a member to think about the situation maybe a little differently.

OOTF's loss is definately our gain.
Regarding being banned for "naughty cussing" -
These days explicatives aren’t foreign to anyone’s ears, as anyone who has watched a movie lately knows.
Which leads me to believe board members supporting your ban don't get out much.
Just goes to prove what we already knew:
If they had real lives, they wouldn't feel the need to do this crap.
