I was wondering why the conversation on OOTF has seemed to be way less lately.

Yep...pretty lame over there too. Turning into a PD love fest, but there are several who are bucking the trend.

Hey, Everyone -
About JChick's momster post -
Aside from just pointing out how arbitrary the "momster" decision was, I think the idea was to show everyone that the "Powers That Be" (the admins/mods) aren't really very profound thinkers.
I have a feeling JChick's intent was to let the "PTBs" know that we expected them to bring their A Game when playing ball on OOTF.
Another thing: Given that the "PTBs" were known to be irrational and unreasonable, I think JChick may have tried to put the "prestige" of the "PTBs" into context, so that anyone targeted by them and/or upset by their actions would take comfort in knowing the sparks weren't exactly flying between the neurons when they considered matters of concern.
Eclipse's nonsensical reply didn't just reinforce that they employed a pretty lame level of thought to matters, his "rather give my right arm" was a blatant threat of "dis-memberment" if you ask me.
With regard to SolarFlare's purported "violent ideation":
What I always thought was important in a forum was balance. In other words, you've got people like a Varja or a Serenity_Now bringing research and sharing links. Then you've got people like LittleGirlBlue who would talk about psychological theory. Then you've got a JChick who dissects issues to see what the dynamics are, and walking people through ideas. Then you've got your "touchy feely" types who provide straightforward sympathy. Then you've got a SolarFlare who reminds everyone "protect thyself first" - and whose bold statements bolstered the courage of the vulnerable and frightened.
I think that it's the totality of contributions that provide both strength and cohesion to a forum.
Once you start opting for a one-dimensional forum and start removing the different elements, you end up weakening the fabric.
Which is what happened over at OOTF.

Christoff'sGotAProblem, Nicely stated.
The balance is important. JChick and many others there are excellent for tearing into the psychology. I am done with that aspect as I did that several years ago. Turned myself inside out and backwards chasing down the rabbit hole. It helps to understand the what , why and maybe even how, but it doesn't change anything for the partner. The one who is being hurt by the behaviors and at bpdfamily.com , there were too many people that had stayed into retirement with partners, that regretted on every level that they tried to make the marriage work. It was those people and the lessons that they shared that prompted the "Save yourself." Attitude. That and my own FOO.
It's a process and intricate to tear apart the lines that tangle a person into these unhealthy relationships. The other sad part, is many people get so damaged in these relationships as well. My empathy and compassion is for the victims of the PD's. The sex thread highlighted really how bad it can be and how deeply it cuts a person.
Agreed. Balance is key.

^^^^^^ Yeah that, all of that, from everyone above.
It kind of hurts that they (Mods) are too stupid to see that the site is going downhill. If they were as smart as they thought they were it'd be more enjoyable. I'm guessing they have no idea about the site activity.
I mean wasn't my post about Avacodo and Local Hangout pretty self explanitory. I guess they didn't see it or I'd be banned?
How about posting a link to here on there?

Every post I now post is about how the Mods are ruining the site, of course in ways they won't get.
I dropped a little George Orwell, 1984 in the momster post today:
... the power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one's mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them. ... To tell deliberate lies while genuinely believing in them, to forget any fact that has become inconvenient, and then, when it becomes necessary again, to draw it back from oblivion for just so long as it is needed, to deny the existence of objective reality and all the while to take account of the reality which one denies—all this is indispensably necessary. Even in using the word doublethink it is necessary to exercise doublethink. For by using the word one admits that one is tampering with reality; by a fresh act of doublethink one erases this knowledge; and so on indefinitely, with the lie always one leap ahead of the truth.

I did. I am now a member.
It's so much fun to keep taking swipes at the mods. I'm not sure if they can actually ban you for reading other sites or because they have understood the underlaying message in posts.

Pretty scary. The Mods are checking here. And still looking about for the renegades.
Book? Tibetan Book of the Dead. Little heavy, but good for perspective.

Are they checking here?
They did it to themselves.
Because most of them couldn't think their way out of a paper bag and have no idea about the value of different perspectives or that people who have lived tough experiences aren't so PC, but the fact that they bring so much to the table is overlooked because it doesn't fit with their view of creating a place where they have to be looked at as so important.
They don't like that some members bring more to the table then them.
Good luck to them when only 3 members are on.

They are checking and of course, they are hawks at OOTF to rid the place of us looking for any excuse it seems. They went after some really nice people on there. Unbelievable and utterly idiotic. They are not posting there now as a result at all. Which is a huge shame as they have so much to offer, and helped so many others.
Really gentle people too. I know I kick up a storm, and for the reasons you stated.
I can go either side of the equation wrt PD, but I will lean on the victims side. I am aware of a great deal of the psychology although I play "stupid" , I just don't fire up my empathy thrusters for the usual PD crumbs. C PTSD? Yep. No worries there. Few others that are working on issues. Easy. But...the others? Nah
