Yep...pretty sad. JChick had such a fantastic post and the response was just bonkers.
Don't know about the rest of you, but that is some really bad twisted bs for thinking I have read in a long time.
Basically, those that are posting are being called the abusers. What are they using for "evidence" is what I want to know. Give me a bloody break.
Emotional and verbal abuse, lovely , so how about physical and Sexual??? Missed those two buddy.

Looks to me that Eclipse used a whole bunch of words to say a whole lot of nothing. Too much bureaucratic bullshit in my opinion and being used to just oppress personalities that they find "offensive" regardless of if the person is actually being offensive or not.

The mods are important, they need to also go to their day jobs as doctors, therapists, psycologists, and leaders of the free world....... oh wait, oh that's right they are none of those things.
Let's do that Ban OOTF day. We each post 10x and then go dark.

I've been noticing since I came back to OOTF that the activity has dwindled a lot. Several nights when I check the unread posts there is only like 3 topics that are active and no one has responded to the others. The board will likely burn itself out soon.

Perhaps not so much about Ban OOTF as it has been a really good place to many people for many years. But as an eye opener? Perhaps ? Gary did a ton of work there long before some of the Goofy Mod Squad showed up. The problem from my perspective is the sloppy moderation. That response to JChick was a blind read or what? I cannot believe that the final "verdict" could be delivered in such an off hand and bizarre manner and backed up with the "personal experience" as the balance point for the final outcome. There are people there with massive amounts of abuse buried in their back grounds that far out weigh eclipse.
Two others have received "warnings" as well....utterly insane. Those two members have not once in any posts been terrible. Not once!! And they suffered some really nasty stuff.

The problem is that the mods have caused those who bring valuable info, experience and advice to leave or post no more.
Jchick's post was beautiful, telling them they have created a bad environment where they seek to control what people say and think. How they didn't get that shows their stupidity
The mods are just like, no scratch that, they are 10000% exactly like PD's, seeking to control every aspect of the boards.
The problem is that they can delete and ban posts and members quicker than anyone can read them. That will make any posts a waste.
So it needs to be done in a well-planned, fool proof method.
I'll post later but real quick:
Each member sends out a PM to other friends/members to tell them our plan.
Then each member posts a new post with our reasons and a "universal" message as posts, this will create 100+ posts and the mods won't be able to delete them as fast as needed.
Ideally, if everyone of us can post 10+ posts, and there are say 20 of us, we can get our message across.
I'll write up a plan and message later.

It's not easy to build up a board like this, and that is what we have to contend with. I can help a bit with SEO and stuff like that if/when I have downtime. |
