So I left Eclipse a Message, more out of anger so excuse the roughness. I was sent 3 PM's asking "what I wanted and who I was". When I would not play his game, he banned me. So I sent him this from a 2nd account I set up, just in case.
To Eclipse:
What's the matter? Couldn't take it? You should try to man up and be a man, but I'm sure you couldn't do that.
I'm going to bet you don't have thick skin. Can't take a little critisim? I figured not.
What will you tell people you banned me for, a quote from George Orwell's 1984, A local hangout? Geez, pretty paranoid are you.
You can ban people as many times as you want but fact is, your the one in charge when OOTF went under because everyone who brought something, left. Failures have ways of sticking with people for the rest of their life. And this will be a failure. Funny thing is that it really doesn't matter because it's only a blog. But rest assured it will bother you. It's been bothering you for weeks. And it will forever bother you.
It will bother you that you took over something that thrived and within months it went south quick. And the thing is, you have no idea what to do about your failure at OOTF. You see the numbers and activity drop, and you have no idea how to fix it. How will Eclipse fix it? He won't. Why, because he can't.
But be assured, with each failure comes new opportunity. And I'm sure you can find someone to place blame on to make yourself feel better. You strike me as that type of person, someone with nothing to offer, who thinks they offer something, but does not. Who finds someone to blame for the number of failures in the last year.
I'll always be back on to rub it in. Good luck.

Hey CGisNuts -
By any chance did you get to see JChick's post on OOTF on your Favorite Hang Out thread?
It was posted somewhere around midnight U.S. Eastern Standard Time.
The subject matter? Gandhi.
It was really a rip and I laughed my ass off reading it, and meant to copy it and post it here for everyone's enjoyment.
But when I went back to get it, POOF!!!! The whole Favorite Hang Out thread had disappeared!
That's right, folks. Gandhi is threatening.
Ooooh, Gandhi.
I assume Mother Teresa is also....

Scary scary stuff....when Ghandi is a danger. Yeesh.
It's typical moderating ploy though. Just delete your error. "It never happened" which is why I have been known to take screen shots..never know when those things can come in handy.

Just to put that who OOTF thing to bed, Eclipse had sent me a PM at 11pm last night: ------ Hi -
2 questions:
Who are you?
What is it that you want? --------
I responded with a question of "Not sure I get what you are asking", then he replied: "You've said a lot about what the OOTF leadership wants. What do you want?"
I played dumb because it was late at night and I was doing something,
Finally he then said: I'm not going to explain. This is Room 101. And this is my third and last attempt. If you want to have a real conversation about who you are and what you want here, I am inviting you to do that now.
I poleitly told him that it was late at night and I'd be happy to talk to him the following day.
Then, boom, banned. For no reason. That's why I sent the letter under another account.
And that's it. I will complain no more because really what will it do? We will just "take our business elsewhere"
Glad I got to him though. Glad I frustrated him and he could only ban me like a spoiled little boy who doesn't get his way.

CGisNuts:
My first reaction was, Hell yeah I'd give him my "List of grievances!"
I'd tick off one by one the litany of unjust things that are going on over at OOTF.
How "Rules" should be clear and straightforward. That debating ideas is healthy. That contradictions are detrimental only when they aren't constructive -when they are simply critical and argumentative. That "Warnings" should be based on actual rules broken, and not some amorphous extrapolation of them or hypothetical interpretation of a member's intent.
That oppression is a sick way to get your jollies - and bring to mind Hitler and Stalin, Botha and Hussein, Mugabe and al-Bashir. Reality Check: Eclipse's contact of you? He was merely paying "lip service" to the concept of considering your gripes.
In dealing with PDs, one thing I've learned is that a fair, frank and open discussion is not in the cards with anyone who contacts you at an unreasonable hour, inquires regarding a subject which requires a lot of reflection, and then demands an immediate response.
I guess HIS wishes were the only ones that mattered.
I think Eclipse picked the perfect name for himself, for that's what he's seeking to do to others.
I think you deprived him of fulfilling his happy expectation: He'd pretend to be solicitous and interested in your input, then utterly demean you by reminding you that by virtue of his sheer longevity and grinding away at Gary over time, he was the one to gain access to the control panel, not you.
And so while you're free to hold an opinion, he'll still be able to negate your contributions to the forum.
For example, a mod/admin/Eclipse deleting the Favorite Hangout thread. Which any of 'em can do - they don't even need to vote on it.
Did you see the results of the most recent election on OOTF? Like 15 people voted. I'll bet 9 of them were the board members. Add Aames (since he was outgoing) and TechGuy (since he was nominated) - and you've got 11.
What do you expect when they hold elections in the middle of summer when everyone is out trying to have a little fun and not glued to their computer anxiously constructing their personal Internet forum feifdom?
And don't count on it changing anytime in the future! The Board has implemented a rule that says even if the forum nominates someone to stand for election to be a moderator, the whole freegin Board must unanimously approve of the nominee before the forum gets to vote on him or her. Disenfranchisement? Sure looks like it. Installation of a regime? You bet your ass.
Yeah, ideas are dangerous things. What's more dangerous is authority without checks and balances.
I'm waiting for the book banning to begin.

Dude has me on that one...

I think it means a classroom for dummies or the kids with learning disabilities. Its a class for dummies who didn't learn the first time.

Oracle of Delphi: Know thyself.
The answers are many depending on the questions. And the answers are different , depending on the person.

I don't think he meant that room 101 from 1984.
Like English 101. Basic, 1+1=2

Eclipse and the 101 reference and the questions? Hilarious. He stole those from my posts. Who are you? What do you want?
He is attempting to learn assertiveness, but without a clue to the purpose nor intent of those questions.
The concept to me of Room 101 at OOTF these days is a codep PTB , THINK, FEEL, POST as I do. Then you are accepted into the fold. There is NO discourse. It's only , AGREE AGREE AGREE and the loose interpretation of the rules . The links they boot out of "some special members" posts is idiotic, but leave them ALL OVER THE PLACE for other members.
The idiotic and blatant manner in which that is done is not lost. It is a PD move, poke, irritate, prod basically act like a prick, then get a reaction and then blame the person for reacting and call it abusive and "rule breaking."

Thanks for the answer about "Room 101."
IMHO, it was meant as Mea suggested, as if to say, "I can use literary references too!"
This reminds me to mention something I realized about "smarts."
I once thought intelligence was about how much information a person could cram into their brain. Like "book smart," you dig?
I realize now memorization isn't nearly the whole ball of wax.
It's the ability to apply knowledge and incorporate it into day to day events that makes a person smart.
Being able to parrot things doesn't make the parrot intelligent. At best, that kind of remembering and regurgitation is the same intelligence as a Xerox machine has.
CGisNuts can look at a situation and see the parallels to great literature. That's intelligence.
Eclipse can take a story concept and use it as a threat. That's not what I'd call smart.
MeaCuratio, I think you give a pretty accurate assessment of the situation over there.

Thank you Truman, appreciate your thoughts on that. It looks like that to me, but at the same time, I also question if I am being "overly sensitive"...kind of doubt that as it has been a pattern for a while over there.
