Be authentic, don’t conform blindly to things that you do not feel good about. Ask yourself why. Ask the other why. You’re not a sheep, you’re a human being. So don’t act like one. You will find out that other people feel the same way a lot of the time, but since they don’t speak up and act like sheep to get acceptance from others, you have to be the one that speaks up.
In most Asian cultures, you’ll find that this social conformity is even worse, mostly because these cultures find their roots in communism. “The nail that sticks out gets hammered down”, is how this principle was often described. Become this nail. Screw that hammer.
